About us

Centre for Rural Improvement Services (CRIS) is an NGO, non-political, and not-for-profit organization formed in 1998 to improve the living standards of poor, marginalized, and disadvantaged segments of society living in West Gonja, one of Ghana’s most poverty-stricken areas.

CRIS has worked on a variety of issues, such as securing portable water sources, training local women in water administration and management, running campaigns focused on community sanitation and sustainability, and assisting with the formation of women farming groups and women-led savings and loan associations.

Some objectives include ensuring that 80% of girls complete junior high school (with particular emphasis on teenage mothers) as well as creating educational programs for teenagers who do not have access to qualified teaching.
